Men’s Doubles Competition

Kieran Mc Carthy is leading the men’s winter doubles competition and he was in top form last Monday when he formed a winning combination with Marek Rose.  He has accumulated 15 points, George Bodor is on 13 points in second place followed by Marek Rose and Jimmy Raleigh on 12. This novel competition continues every Monday with a large number of men competing.

Spring Leagues

The ladies and men’s singles spring leagues will be starting soon and closing date for registration is Thursday 16th February. Members may register by Viber or sign up on the official form in the clubhouse.

 Junior Tennis

Coach Derek Stenson has commenced his tennis lessons for junior members for children aged from 4 to 17 years. The coaching is on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays commencing at 4pm. For details of these sessions you may contact him at 0851080013 or email rallyvolleysmash@gmail.com.

Derek is setting up a Midlands tennis circuit where there will be matches for children from under 8 to under 16. He aims to have an event every month at a different club across the midlands. This is an exciting new adventure for midland tennis clubs and an excellent opportunity for our young players to meet and compete against other children.

Australian Open

They may be 35 years of age but Serena Williams and Roger Federer are once again both Grand slam and Australian open champions. Roger has achieved 18 Grand slam titles while Serena needs one more to equal Margaret Courts total of 24. Roger overcame his great rival Rafa Nadal in a 5 set match while Serena had a much easier encounter against her older sister Venus.

Club Nights

Club nights continue every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7.30 until 9.30. Men compete every Monday, the ladies play on Tuesdays with mixed doubles competitions on Thursdays.
