Senior Club Championships

Paula Dowling and Pawel Michalski were crowned ladies and men’s club champions for the first time last Saturday. Paula defeated Lisa Brennan in a three set titanic struggle for supremacy. Pawel, competing in his third final had a two set win over Des Windsor McGlynn who was competing in his first final.

Seven finals were completed last Saturday with four postponed due to a number of factors. It is hoped that these will be played during the week. The four matches to be decided are the men’s doubles cup and plate, the men’s plate and the ladies doubles plate finals.

In the ladies doubles, Donegal ladies Paula Dowling/Mary Jo O’ Farrell combined to defeat Orla Gavin/Stephane Kenny in a three set marathon. The mixed doubles was won by the Jacinta Digby/Tim Clarke combination defeating the Lisa Brennan/Cathal Kenny duo. The mixed doubles plate final was between Mary O’ Neill/Tomasz Koza and Paula Dowling/Kieran/Mc Carthy with the latter couple victorious.

Orla Kinahan overcame Mary O’ Neill in the ladies plate final. Eight ladies competed for the Ida Smith cup over the past three weeks with Aine Blehene and Roisin Mc Carthy winning through to the final with Roisin emerging the winner.
