Summer Camps
Our first summer camp starts Monday 11th with the second starting Monday 25th July. Both camps are for five days starting at 10 and finishing at 1pm. Members and non-members are welcome to participate in these camps. To register and to obtain further details please contact Clem at 0864022490.
Senior Open
Our ten open finals for ladies and men from the midland tennis clubs were completed successfully last Sunday. Lisa Brennan, open organiser, was happy that the weather was exceptionally favourable for the finals, indeed there was no interruption for the whole week, Wimbledon did not having much luck in that department.
Four finals started at 13.30 and all afternoon until 19.00 the many spectators were able to observe their favourite competitors compete and advance through the games, sets and matches. While the very competitive tennis matches were extremely exhausting for the players, the ladies A final lasting up to three hours, the spectators were free to sample the savouries and quench the thirst at their leisure.
Great credit is due to Lisa for organising and successfully running the tournament. Behind the scenes lots of club members were in attendance helping to provide the essential nutrition and ensure the clubhouse was suitable organised.
The results for this year show that it was a very successful one for Athlone competitors. Eleven players were involved in the seven singles finals winning four. Longford and Mullingar players dominated the doubles finals.
The management committee greatly appreciates the commitment of all the competitors who supported our open and the involvement of members who help in the efficient running of the competitions.

Midland League
The midland league competitions will commence in mid-July and members wishing to be on a team should register on the official form in the clubhouse. All teams will consist of two ladies and two men. We expect to have teams in divisions 2, 3 and 4.
Annual Mixed Doubles
Our annual mixed doubles competition will be starting Monday 4th with the final on Thursday 7th July.
Junior Coaching
Clem Higginbotham will commence coaching on Saturday May 7th for children under 7 at 10am. Children ages 8 to 11 have coaching at 11 and coaching for older children will start at 12. Clem can be contacted at 0864022490.

Social Tennis
The open competitions had priority last week so there was no social tennis and this week pride of place goes to our annual mixed doubles for the perpetual shield. Social tennis will commence again on Monday 11th July and potential players wishing to have a go at playing the game are most welcome to come along, play commences at 7.30. Men compete every Monday, the ladies play every Tuesday while mixed doubles competitions are held every Thursday
