Athlone tennis club is pleased to announce that they have received a grant from Athlone Credit Union’s community support fund. The primary objective of the community support fund is to support the development and delivery of worthwhile projects to the benefit of members and the local community in the Athlone common bond area. Club Development

The midlands is set to become home to Ireland’s newest indoor tennis dome. Work is already underway at Athlone Tennis Club’s new base, next to the Regional Sports Centre, on three new outdoor artificial clay courts, with an indoor dome planned for phase two to make the courts playable all the year around. It is a massive project, that’s likely to also help drive inward investment in the region, according to club representative Pat Conway, who outlined the plans in an interview with Will O Callaghan on Midland 103. The development comes with a huge price tag and the club is now reaching out to the public for financial assistance for the first time. The club is holding a raffle on July 10th to help fund the new development. Tickets are available from any committee member and on the web through https://www.idonate.ie/raffle/AthloneTennisRaffle. It is anticipated that play will commence on three new state-of-the-art tennis courts by mid-summer.
