Ladies’ and Men’s Summer Singles Leagues
Lisa Brennan and the Tournaments committee are in the process of organising these leagues and members wishing to play in them should register with Lisa by next Thursday 22nd July. The competitions will be run off by September 2nd followed by the club championships.
Mondays: Men’s Summer Doubles League
Sai Palada and Isaac Del Saz Palos were the winners of the men’s doubles summer league last Monday adding four points to their totals. Second and collecting three points were Puneet Nayyer and Marek Rose. The two point winners were Peter Agbanobi, John Bray and John O’ Connell. Kieran Mc Carthy, Declan Finn, Rob Kearney, Atin Kohli, Dave Costello and Sundar Balasubramanian were awarded one point each. This competition continues every Monday from 7.30.
Wednesdays Ladies Night
Ladies night continues to be very successful with ten competing last week. Lisa Brennan, Evgenyia Yurchenko, Jacinta Digby, Deborah Mc Keown, Rose and Julie Costello, Natasha and Maree McGrath, Mary Jo O’ Farrell, Niamh Daly Ryan joined ladies captain, Lola Fernandez Palos, last Wednesday for an excellent night’s competition. Ladies have exclusive use of the courts every Wednesday and all members are welcome to participate, teams will be organised at 7.30.
Thursdays & Sundays: Mixed Doubles
Thursday’s mixed doubles was a most enjoyable event played in balmy conditions as were the whole week’s tennis competitions. Deborah Mc Keown, Mary Jo O’ Farrell, Evgenyia Yurchenko, Rose and Dave Costello, Lola Fernandez and Isaac Del Saz Palos, Jan Groenendijk, Puneet Nayyer and John O’ Connell formed the competing partnerships.
Sunday’s mixed doubles was a very relaxing and social occasion due to the high morning temperature. Marek Rose, Sai Palada, Lola Fernandez Palos and Rose Costello were the more competitive players, while others relaxed in the shade enjoying cool drinks.
