Senior Club Championships

The fine weather during the past week ensured that a lot of senior club championships matches were played. The cup and plate finals will be played this weekend. Events are the best of three sets but the third set may be a champion’s tie break, first to reach ten but must win by two. This year there will be no food or other refreshments available in the clubhouse and spectators are to remain outside the perimeter fences and not congregate under the canopy at the clubhouse.

Men may organise championship matches, every Monday night, the ladies may do the same every Wednesday night and mixed doubles matches may be organised during Thursday doubles booked times. Members may cancel a club booking and organise championship match.

Seeded players Harry O’ Rourke and Sean Raftery are on course to meet in the men’s final but first Sean has a very tough semi-final against Rob Kearney. Lisa Brennan and Anna Walsh are the lady finalists.
