Senior Club Championships

 The senior club championships got off to a good start last Sunday with a lot of matches in all competitions being played during the past week. Finals day will be September 26th or 27th depending on the weather conditions. All first round defeated players will be entered in plate competitions. Events are the best of three sets but the third set may be a champion’s tie break, first to reach ten but must win by two.

Men may organise championship matches, every Monday night, the ladies may do the same every Wednesday night and mixed doubles matches may be organised during Thursday and Sunday mixed doubles booked times, preferably doubles matches during these times. Members may cancel a club booking and organise championship match.  

Initial Competition Winners

Peter Agbanobi, John Galvin, Sai Palada, David Manser, Cathal Kenny and Kieran Mc Nally were winners in the men’s draw. Lisa Brennan Rose Costello got their first wins in the ladies event.

Ida Smith Cup winners during the past week were Marie Brennan, Amy Maher and Yvonne Walsh.

Dave Costello Cup winners were Joe Reidy and George Jebaraj.

Men’s Doubles winners were Dave Costello/Conor Jones, David Manser/Sean Nolan and Kieran Mc Carthy/Jimmy Raleigh. Ladies’ Doubles winners were Eugeniya Yurchenko/Noirin Reidy. Mixed Doubles winners were Sine Mcfarlane/Marek Rose, Lola Fernandez Palos/John Bray, Anne Dooley/George Teberaj, Julie Costello/Isaac Sal Daz Palos, Sinead Reidy/Dave Costello and Yvonne Walsh/Sean Reidy.

Moate’s Invitation Tennis Competition

 Moate Tennis Club’s invitation mixed doubles competition was played during the past two months and the four winning partnerships who are through to the semi-finals are Julie Costello and Richard Frank, K Flynn and John Galvin, Mary Rose Mc Intyre and John O’ Connell, Rose and Dave Costello. Credit to Carmel Hayes and Jimmy Raleigh who organised this friendly event.

Men’s Summer Doubles League

 Marek Rose and Dave Costello were the winning partnership last Monday collecting four points each. This enabled them to claim first and second place, respectively, in the men’s doubles summer league. Rob Kearney and John O’ Connell were joint third placed.

Covid 19 Recommendations

 All members are urged to bring their own hand sanitizer, however the club has installed a hand sanitise dispenser near the club house door.
