Senior Club Championships
The senior club championships will commence Sunday 30th and all members interested in playing in any of the seven events must sign up on the official forms in the clubhouse by Friday evening. The seven events are the ladies’ and men’s singles competitions, the ladies’, men’s and mixed doubles events, the Ida Smith and Dave Costello Cup events, which are for members new to playing tennis.
Ladies’ and Men’s Pyramids.
Julie Costello tops the ladies’ pyramid, Lisa Brennan is second and Anna Walsh has the third place. Stephane Kenny, Paula Dowling and Evgeniya Yurchenko hold the next three places respectively.
Peter Agbanobi has successively challenged three members during the past week and consequently moved from fifteenth to sixth place on the men’s pyramid, rapid progress indeed. However Harry O’Rourke and Des Windsor Mc Glynn are number 1 and 2. George Bodor, Rob Kearney and Martin O’ Rourke hold the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Men’s and Ladies’ Club Nights
Both nights were postponed due the wind and rain, but hopefully play will resume this week from 7.30 to 9.30.
Thursday’s Mixed Doubles Competition
Thursday evening’s mixed doubles combinations were Loretto Lee and Sai Palada, Evgeniya Yurchenko and Sean Reidy, Olivia Sumner and Isaac Del Saz Palos, Lola Palos Fernandez and Michael Doheny, Rose Costello and Joseph Butler, Noirin Reidy and Dave Costello. All players enjoyed the evening’s entertaining action which ended shortly before 9.30.
Covid 19 Recommendations
All members are urged to bring their own hand sanitizer, however the club has installed a hand sanitise dispenser near the club house door. Members are requested to enter the clubhouse only for signing up on the club championship forms and in an emergency.
Sunday’s Mixed Doubles
Sunday’s mixed doubles social competition was the second successful event last week. The following duos enjoyed the banter and more importantly the on court action. Anne Dooley & Prince Paulson, Evgeniya Yurchenko & Isaac Del Saz Palos, Sine Mcfarlane & Marek Rose, Lola Fernandez Palos & Pat Conway, Rose & Dave Costello. This event is organised every Sunday morning from 11am, needless to emphasise all members are welcome to participate.
