Senior Club Championships

The senior club championships will start this weekend with a new innovation this year - 'Super Sunday' - where a full programme of first round matches will be scheduled for Sunday 10th making for an exciting start to the competition. For match times, players should check the clubhouse or the website during the week. There will be the usual plate competion for those knocked out in the first round in all competitions, providing lots of tennis. As there is a two week period only for the competition this year, all players are asked to arrange their matches without delay to keep the rounds moving along. All finals are planned for Saturday 23th - weather permitting.

Mullingar Open

The Mullingar Open takes place this week with eight men from our club taking part and Laura Hunt flying the flag for the ladies. Finals are on Sunday 10th and we wish good luck to all concerned.

Senior Summer Leagues

The leagues were completed this week. In the Men's section, Sean Raftery finished first and goes back to the top of the pyramid. Harry O'Rourke finished in second with Des Windsor McGlynn third and Peter Agbonobi fourth. In group two, Pawel Michalski was first and Martin O'Rourke second - both are promoted. Dave Costello in first and Marek Rose go up from group 3 and runaway winner Warren Curtin and Pat Conway from group 4. In the Ladies, Anne O'Sullivan and Rose Costello are promoted in first and second in group 2 and Roisin Casey was the winner in group 3. The Autumn league will commence shortly after the club championships.

Club Nights

Harry O'Rourke and Dave Costello combined to collect four points as winners last Monday with Martin O'Rourke and John Galvin just behind in second place and adding three points to their collection.  Kieran McCarthy and Marek Rose added two points while David Manser and Manu Singh collected one extra point in fourth.

Ladies night continues to gather momentum and continues every Tuesday.

The mixed doubles competition continues each Thursday and new members are most welcome at all club nights.

Junior Tennis

Clem Higginbotham has started coaching lessons for junior members every Saturday for children under 8 at 10am and at 11 for children under 12. Older children have lessons from 12 to 1pm. For further details contact Clem at 0864022490.

Coach Derek Stenson has commenced a seven week course for junior members for children aged from 4 to 17 years. The coaching is on Tuesdays and Fridays commencing at 4pm. For details of these sessions you may contact him at 0851080013 or email rallyvolleysmash@gmail.com.
