Summer Camps
Our first summer camp starts Monday 17th and the second starts Monday 31st July. Both camps commence at 10am and finish at 1pm and run for five days. For full details and to register please contact Clem 0864022490.
Senior Open
Our senior open is being played this week with the finals on Sunday 16th July. The men’s A seeded players are Harry O’ Rourke and Sean Raftery. In the B event Des Windsor Mc Glynn may take the honours while Michael Flynn is top seed in the C competition. Rob Johnson is likely to be the over 45 winner. Michele Culligan and Stephane Kenny are favourites for honours in the ladies B and C events.
Longford’s Lorcan Gearty/Marcin Jusczyk are the formidable men’s A doubles duo while the Rob Kearney/Paul Murphy partnership are strong contenders in the B doubles. Lisa Brennan and Melanie Whyte should be too competitive for the other lady combinations. In the mixed doubles the wily duo from Mullingar, Margaret Tracey and Roddy Corbett are fancied to prevail.
Midland League
The midland league competitions will commence the week beginning 24th July after the Birr Wilmer open. Members interested in these competitions should sign the official form in the clubhouse. The tournament committee will be announcing the teams this week.
Junior Tennis
Clem Higginbotham has started coaching lessons for junior members every Saturday for children under 8 at 10am and at 11 for children under 12. Older children have lessons from 12 to 1pm. For further details contact Clem at 0864022490.
Coach Derek Stenson has commenced a seven week course for junior members for children aged from 4 to 17 years. The coaching is on Tuesdays and Fridays commencing at 4pm. For details of these sessions you may contact him at 0851080013 or email rallyvolleysmash@gmail.com.
