Ladies’ and Men’s April/May Leagues

The ladies and men’s singles leagues will conclude this Thursday 25th May with presentation of prizes that evening. As usual the Pyramids will be revised after the league on a two up, two down basis. There are still a few matches to be completed but the likely lady winners for the various groups are Lisa Brennan, Anna Walsh, Julie Costello and Madu Bhyrraju. In the men’s league the leading players are Des Windsor Mc Glynn, Richard Frank, Peter Agbanobi and Ghanshyam Godara.

Men’s League
Group 1: Arek Trebeski, Tim Clarke, David Manser, Sean Raftery, Des Windsor Mc Glynn, George Bodor.
Group 2: Martin O'Rourke, Jimmy Raleigh, Tomasz Koza, Richard Frank, Kieran McCarthy, Rob Kearney.
Group 3: Dave Costello, Peter Agbanobi, John Galvin, John Cooney, Marek Rose, Oisin Stronge.
Group 4: Michael Flynn, Michael Rodgers, Ghanshyam Godara, Eduardo Ballesteros Ribera, Cristi Tibuh.
Group 5: Tanmay Pande, Atin Kohli, Raja, Barth.

Ladies’ League
Group 1: Lisa Brennan, Orla Kinahan, Melanie Whyte, Michelle Culligan, Joan Conway.
Group 2: Ann O'Sullivan, Sine McFarlane, Anna Walsh, Mary O'Neill, Jacinta Digby.
Group 3: Rose Costello, Roisin Casey, Mary Jo O'Farrell, Julie Costello, Aileen Cunnie.
Group 4: Laura Hunt, Madhu Bhyrraju, Rosemary, Clare McCarthy, Lakshimi.

Men’s Summer Doubles Competition

This competition continues every Monday and is very well supported by many members wishing to compete in an excellent night’s tennis. Last week’s winners were John Galvin and John Cooney, joint second were duos Des Windsor Mc Glynn and Michael Rodgers, Peter Agbanobi and Edwardo Ballesteros Ribera. Third placed were Dave Costello and Ghanshyam Godara with Marek Rose and Tanmay Pande obtaining the fourth placed points. All the remaining players collected one point each for attendance. 

Ladies’ Summer Doubles Competition

The ladies doubles commenced last Tuesday and the initial winners were Lisa Brennan and Lakshimi, Anna Walsh and Mary O’ Neill were second with Rose Costello and Sine Macfarlane in third place. This competitive event continues every Tuesday and accumulation of points will go towards the player and lady player of the year award. All lady members are welcome to participate.

Mixed Doubles Competitions

Mixed doubles competitions are organised every Thursday at 7.30. Last week the winning players were Lisa Brennan and Ghanshyam Godara and Marek Rose, in second place were Des Windsor Mc Glynn and Roisin Casey, Arek Trebeski and Stephane Kenny were third, Anna Walsh and Manu Singh collected the fourth placed points.

Mixed Doubles League

This league will start from May 25th and will run until July 6th. The aim of this competition is to provide members with competitive practice matches in preparation for the Midland Leagues which will start in mid-July. All members wishing to participate in the mixed doubles league should contact Des Windsor Mc Glynn or Michele Culligan. All members are reminded that the usual Sunday mixed doubles competition is suspended until July so that players can arrange mixed doubles league matches Sunday mornings.

Junior Tennis

Clem Higginbotham has started coaching lessons for junior members every Saturday for children under 8 at 10am and at 11 for children under 12. Older children have lessons from 12 to 1pm. For further details contact Clem at 0864022490.

Coach Derek Stenson has commenced a seven week course for junior members for children aged from 4 to 17 years. The coaching is on Tuesdays and Fridays commencing at 4pm. For details of these sessions you may contact him at 0851080013 or email rallyvolleysmash@gmail.com.

Junior Practice Sessions

Practice sessions for junior members are progressing every Thursday by coaches Clem Higginbotham and Derek Stenson. Children age 8-11 play games from 5 to 6 while older children play games from 6 to 7.

Club Nights

Club nights continue every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday starting at 7.30 with continuous competitions until 9.30. Men play every Monday with the ladies competing every Tuesday and with mixed doubles events every Thursday.
