Men’s Winter Doubles League

The men’s winter doubles league concluded last Monday with Des Windsor Mc Glynn and Dave Costello emerging as joint winners with scores of twenty points each. Marek Rose was second with eighteen points. Rob Kearney was third placed earning sixteen points. The final competition saw the smallest attendance of the winter due to the damp cold conditions. Des teamed up with Vincent Hall to win the event. Sai Palada and Marek Rose were second placed while Dave Costello and John Bray made up the competing partnerships. Our men’s doubles spring league will commence Monday 3rd February and a greater number will surely be active during the brighter Monday evenings.

Ladies Wednesday Night

A small but very committed number of ladies competed over the winter months organised by ladies’ captain Evgenyia Yurchenko. She will be missed over the next few weeks while visiting her family in St Petersburg. Wintry conditions prevented tennis action last Wednesday..

Thursday’s Mixed Doubles

Mixed doubles competitors Mary O’ Neill, Deborah Mc Keown, Lola Palos Fernendaz, Jesus Areso Ruiz and Isaac Del Saz Palos enjoyed an excellent tennis workout last Thursday.

Sunday’s Doubles

Sunday’s mixed doubles event was postponed last Sunday, most members tuning into the Australian Open men’s singles event. Even though Dominic Thiem was outstanding the old order still pertains. Sofia Kenin’s victory keeps the ladies competitions in a state of flux. Mixed doubles competition continues as usual next Sunday from 11 to 1pm.
