Westmeath Independent Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Clem Higginbotham on being nominated for the 2018 Westmeath Independent Hall of Fame award. He has been nominated by a number of parents for his long service contribution of coaching children at our club. In fact he has been coaching junior members for over twenty years and still continues providing this service for over nine months of the year.

Clem will be presented with his well-deserved award at the 2018 Westmeath Independent sports star awards ceremony Friday 25th January in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel.

Men’s Doubles Winter League

Duos John Galvin/John Cooney and Dave Costello/Cathal Kenny ended all square last Monday in the men’s doubles winter league. All four collected four points each to add to their total earned last year. Des Windsor Mc Glynn and Jimmy Raleigh were second collecting three points each while Rob Kearney/Nigel Coyle were awarded two points each. Marek Rose and Andres Leal collected the minimum as the fourth placed partnership.

Mixed Doubles Competition

Our first mixed doubles competition of the new-year was played last Thursday and the first winners in 2019 were Rose Costello and Marek Rose. Marek as usual dominated at the net play while Rose had her fair share of cross court winners.
