Junior Club Championships

The junior club championships are on this week the 8th and 9th August.  There will be competitions for under 10, 12, 14 and 16 boys and girls plus under 14 and 16 doubles events. To play in these competitions juniors can sign up on the official form in the clubhouse or text Lisa at 0862215843.

Midland League

Our Division 3 and 6 teams will be in action this week, players Orla Kinahan, Michele Culligan, Richard Frank and Des Windsor Mc Glynn will form team 3 while Aileen Cunnie, Rosemary Thorpe and Cathy Smith will play the Loughrea ladies in division 6.

Men’s Doubles Summer League

The men’s summer doubles league continues every Monday, the leading players so far are Dave Costello on 18 points with Pat Conway and Marek Rose on 16 while Kieran Mc Carthy is in third place with 15 points.

Club Nights

Club nights continue every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with plenty of action on these nights for men, ladies and mixed doubles competitors. New potential members are welcome to participate on any of the above nights.

AIG Irish Open

The ladies Irish hockey team, Irish rowers and GAA county teams hogged the sporting highlights over the weekend but Peter Bothwell won the AIG Irish open tennis competition played at Carrickmines Croquet and Lawn Tennis club. It was televised by TG4, this was his first professional win. Congratulations to Peter and all our other sports heroes.

Coaching

Clem will continue coaching for junior members each Saturday morning. Children ages 4-7 have lessons from 10 to 11 o clock, children 8-12 at 11 o clock and teenagers up to 18 years from 12 to 1 o clock. Further details from Clem 0864022490. Just turn up and join in!

Lisa continues coaching every Saturday. Coaching is for adult members and for adults who wish to come along and participate in the tennis lessons. Interested persons may contact Lisa at 0862215843 for further details.
