Denis Johnston Memorial Cup
Athlone’s match against Mullingar 1 was cancelled last week but is due to be played this Wednesday. George Bodor will deputise for Tomasz Koza who is on holidays. The other team members are Jacinta Digby, Sine Mac Farlane and Dave Costello.
Junior Club Championships
The under 10 boys and girls, under 14 girls, under 16 boys and girls and the under 18 girls club championships will be played on Friday 30th starting at 10am. Any member interested in competing in these can contact junior organiser Derek Stenson 0851080013 or sign up in the clubhouse.
Junior Tennis Coaching and Competitions
Derek Stenson is organizing tennis lessons for junior members every Tuesday and Friday evenings. Derek can be contacted at 0851080013.
Clem Higginbotham continues coaching lessons for junior members every Saturday. The lessons begin at 10 for children under 8, at 11 for under 12 and at 12 o’ clock for older children. His contact number is 0864022490.
Annual General Meeting
Our AGM will be held in the clubhouse on Thursday 12th November, nomination and motion forms are now available in the clubhouse for members who wish to nominate officers or committee members or indeed motions for 2015-16.
Social Tennis
Niall Gallagher and Kieran Mc Carthy were among the large number of men who competed last Monday enjoying the doubles series of matches.
Rose Costello and Mary Fitzpatrick played some exceptional tennis on Tuesday evening from 7.30 to 9.30.
Orla Kinahan and David Mc Carthy combined and were the more formidable combination during Thursday’s night’s session.
Autumn Leagues
The leagues are going well with a number of matches completed last week. In the ladies league Jacinta Digby, Sine Mac Farlane and Rose Costello were victorious.
The men winners were Des Windsor Mc Glynn, Jeremy Clarke, Dave Costello and Gorge Bodor.
