Summer Camps
Our first summer camp started Monday 17th and the second starts Monday 31st July. Both camps commence at 10am and finish at 1pm and run for five days. The camps are for children ages 5 to 13. For full details and to register please contact Clem 0864022490.
Senior Open
Our senior open concluded last Sunday with finalists from Athlone, Moate, Mullingar, Longford, Loughrea and Birr tennis clubs competing for honours and titles. The eleven finals were played over seven hours and the many spectators enjoyed excellent tennis in the bright sunshine.
Usually the same spectators have divided loyalties while watching the finals and keeping an eye on the men’s Wimbledon final. This year however, all were in unison, that they were witnessing the greatest tennis player ever lift his nineteen grand slam title without dropping a set.
Roger, in double quick time, having raised the cup, every one departed the clubhouse to watch any of the four finals that were being played. The spectators were able to observe their favourite competitors compete and advance through the games, sets and matches.
Great credit is due to Lisa Brennan and Warren Curtin for organising and successfully running the tournament. Behind the scenes lots of club members were in attendance helping to provide the essential nutrition and ensure the clubhouse was suitable organised.
The management committee greatly appreciates the commitment of all the competitors who supported our open and the involvement of members who helped in the efficient running of the competitions.

Midland League
The midland league competitions will commence the week beginning 24th July after the Birr Wilmer open. Members interested in these competitions should sign the official form in the clubhouse. The tournament committee will be announcing the teams this week.
Senior Summer Leagues
Members interested in playing in our ladies’ and men’s summer leagues should sign up on the official form in the clubhouse by this weekend and these competitions will run until the end of August.
Junior Tennis
Clem Higginbotham has started coaching lessons for junior members every Saturday for children under 8 at 10am and at 11 for children under 12. Older children have lessons from 12 to 1pm. For further details contact Clem at 0864022490.
Coach Derek Stenson has commenced a seven week course for junior members for children aged from 4 to 17 years. The coaching is on Tuesdays and Fridays commencing at 4pm. For details of these sessions you may contact him at 0851080013 or email rallyvolleysmash@gmail.com.
