Welcome to the new tennis season, I hope you participate and enjoy lots of tennis and meet new and exciting friends. This is our programme of events for the new tennis year, there may be slight changes. 

May 1^st:Membership Fees Due, Discount if paid before May 10^th  

May 10^th:New locks on gates to courts, keys available Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 7.30 to 9.30, Saturdays at 11.00am, fees may be paid then.

Mondays: Men’s Nights, 7.30 - 9.30

Tuesdays: October – March, AIT Students 6.30 – 8.00

Wednesdays: Ladies’ Nights, 7.30 – 9.30

Thursdays: Mixed Doubles, 7.30 – 9.30

May 24^th:  Start of Senior Mixed Doubles Competition May 27^th : Finals of Senior Mixed Doubles Competition

June 16^th :Finals Junior Summer League

July 2/4th :Junior Open for under 14’s,16’s and 18’s.

July/Aug.Supervised Tennis for Junior Members, Monday to Friday, Primary Pupils

1 to 3 pm; Second Level Pupils 3 to 5pm

July 5/9^th: First Summer Camp, 10 to 1pm

July 5^th: Start Senior Open Competitions

July 10^th: Finals Senior Open Competitions

July 16^th :Junior Open for under 10’s and 12’s, Finals Sunday 18^th

July 19/23^rd: Second Summer Camp, 10 to 1pm

July/Aug: Midland League Competitions for Senior Players, see notice board

August 16^th: Start Junior Club Championship

Athlone Open Tournament 1903

Athlone Lawn Tennis Club was founded in the 1800s and was first located in the Garden Vale area of the town and comprised of 6 grass courts surounded by an 8 foot wall which was to keep the local Catholic residents out as the club and Tennis in general during this period was for sole use of the Prodestant faith.
Later in the 1900s the club moved to another site close by before it eventually found its present home in the 1970s.

Athlone Tennis Club consists of 4 floodlit all weather surface tennis courts at present with the latest artificial grass surfaces.
The clubhouse facilities include showers, toilet and changing area, meeting room and kitchen…
An awning to the front with seating area was added to the clubhouse in 2009 and this has proved to be highly popular especially with this years weather.
The Tournaments Committee has organised three pyramids, a junior, ladies and men’s and these have broght a new and exciting dimension to club activities.
