The final of this competition was played between teams C and D. It was a fitting climax to a very successful year for Athlone Tennis Club. Team D were the winners thanks to wins by Michael Beirne, Jacinta Digby, and Aoife Walsh. The other team members, Martin O’ Rourke, Joan Conway and Mary Jo O’ Farrell also played well achieving high scores to win this year’s Christmas hampers.  For team C there were good wins by Dave Costello, Carolyn Tunney and Orla Kinahan. Jimmy Raleigh, Anne Dooley and Aisling Concannon performed well but the were not able to close the gap in a highly rewarding and entertaining competition.

The spring league will commence in February, but club nights continue as usual with the men playing on Mondays and a mixed doubles competition on Thursdays.
